Japanese Role in Global Destruction
As the earth warms and the ice around the poles melts sea waters are rising and countries to be greatly affected with be islands with low lying land, such as those that make up most of Japan. The root cause is increased carbon entrapment in the atmosphere and trees are the main cleaner of this pullutant. They also make Oxygen which all life depends on for survival. Oxygen levels have severely depleted in the last 20 years and when it reaches 7% (now only 14% down from 40% a few years ago) we are all dead, as too will be all life on this planet.
Oblivious to this threat Japanese Companies are racing ahead for profit no matter the consequences. Many are creating the problem by purchasing timber from Rainforests. Much of this resource is then turned into wood chips for manufacturing into products, such as paper.
One such Company is Nippon who relies on the timber of old growth forests, such as those in Tasmania, to produce its paper. This e-mail arrived from Rainforest Action Network who is appealing for this Company to take responsibility and stop their activities. The following is an excerp from that message.
“Talk about adding insult to injury. Top Japanese paper company Nippon is not only driving the destruction of Tasmania’s ancient forests by buying old growth wood from logging giant Gunns Limited — they’re also misinforming the public about it.
By telling customers that all Tasmanian old growth forests are already protected (which is NOT true), Nippon — by far Gunns’ biggest buyer — is avoiding the public outcry that might force them to stop buying old growth trees from Gunns. . .
.. . Nippon Paper is the biggest buyer of old growth woodchips from the infamous logging company Gunns. This makes Nippon paper the leading supporter of Gunns’ destruction of Tasmania’s ancient forests. ”
The following plea is also from the RAN
Dear Friend,
Australia’s island state of Tasmania is home to some of the Earth’s most incredible plants and animals, including the world’s tallest hardwood trees and ancient old-growth forests.
Tragically these global treasures are being destroyed by the logging company GUNNS LIMITED.
And though Gunns has an infamous track record of cutting down pristine old-growth forests, firebombing the clearcut land, and then poisoning the local animal wildlife — Japanese paper companies like Nippon Paper are STILL buying old-growth woodchips from Gunns.
If we can get Nippon Paper (Gunns’ biggest customer) drop its orders for old growth wood, it would be a tremendous step for the campaign for Tasmania’s forests.
This is an incredibly important issue to me, and I’m trying to demand that Nippon Paper STOP buying old-growth wood from Gunns by participating in an international call-in through Rainforest Action Network.
I just sent a message to Nippon Paper, and I’m hoping you will too!

I hope that all who read this blog will take action and contact this Company and others that are destroying our planet and ultimately all humanity. The death toll will be far worse than that attributed to terrorists and they are the worst kind of terrorists because they do their deeds behind the facade of creating jobs.
Useful post. good luck.
